Are these any of your memories from Mutare, Zimbabwe?

Were you originally from Mutare? Do you remember amazing characters like Jill Wylie who wrote those equally amazing books “Call Of The Marsh,” Or “Search - Dogs to the rescue”? Or our loved and respected founder and 30+ year member Mr Beau Howell? Or dear Audrey Hagan, as she drives to the city centre every morning to feed the stray cats who depend on her?

As you all know we still have an SPCA in Mutare and of late have been struggling terribly with funds to support all the animals in our care. While we do everything we can to keep going, we have a monthly stress to work out how to pay the salaries for the 4 respected and fine men who keep the day to day logistics in hand. We have wonderful dogs and cats to find homes for, and we are doing what we can for the community, to be a caring service to their pets.

We dip dogs, we visit schools, we have vaccination and animal health programmes to rural areas, we uplift any animals that are starving, maltreated, abandoned or injured, we fundraise, and we move heaven and Earth to re-home. If you are in any way able to give us a helping hand, however small, you would be the one helping us to survive.

The SPCA has helped us all in some way and now we need help to survive and continue providing a caring, loving option! If you could spare us a thought, please let us know and we can arrange to have bank details sent to you on a secure forum.

If you would like to remember your old hometown, you could ADOPT a kennel in your family or business name, and we will acknowledge it with a sign. The adoption for a kennel cost $95.00 and it promotes great Corporate Responsibility and a caring business nature. It gives us a huge amount of pleasure when visitors walk around and delight at seeing the old Mutare favourites like McKenzie Family for their parents famous Mitchells Bakery, Manica Fresh Produce, Baxters, or Meikles.
